Free Lunch

I knew that there was a free lunch this week at the office. There was an email about it (of course) and it was even posted on the wall.  However I brought a lunch and left it in the car anyway.  Its cold enough that it won't go bad in the car.  This time of year the car is like a mobile freezer.  \Why bring a lunch anyway?  Because if I'm wrong about the date of the free then I have no lunch, and at this point I expect to forget.   I plan to forget because the nature of forgetting is such that if you have forgotten then you're wrong.  If you've forgotten something you don't remember that you forgot until its too late.  Its no fun to be looking for the lunch buffet that's not coming until tomorrow.

Its always better to have two lunches than none.  I can always leave the sandwich in the car, or in the fridge for the next day.  I'm just realizing now how I have built these workarounds or fail safes into my routine.  I do not know that this is a thing that all people do or that this is a problem that all people have.  It takes a lot of forgetting to get this far with all these backup options like the double lunch.  Well, anyhow this time I was right about the date of the free lunch.  I think the one thing I will remember is that I will forget.  Now if only I knew in advance which thing I was going to forget.
